What to do when disaster strikes your home?

by joni on February 3, 2012

What do you do when the worst happens at your house?  Where do you turn when you need mitigation or restoration after a flood, fire or other hazzard in your home?  Recently I sat in on a great educational training through our local Realtor Association.  The speaker was from ServPro.  I was very impressed with his information.  He shared a great deal of information that was helpful to tuck away for the future.  He named Abbey Carpet as a great place to go if you have had disaster strike your carpet.  Vast Electric  for emergency electrical damage and Budget Rooter for emergency plumbing service.  SerPro is a company all over the United States and they go where disasters have happened.  The recent flooding in Salem/ Turner is a good example of this.  They would be one of the companies called upon to deal with the flooding in homes and businesses, fire damage, mold restoration etc.  They also named Servicemaster and Horizon among some of the other companies that do the same.  I heard enough yesterday to know that I need a professional to handle the problem should it ever happen to me and I know who to recommend should it happen to a client.  In fact it did happen to a client and he did call ServPro.  If you would like referrals to any other type of business in town please feel free to contact me at 503-910-1457 or visit my website GetSalemRealEstate.com.

Do you need a good carpet cleaner in Salem, Oregon?  One of our rentals was recently vacated and I decided to try a new carpet cleaning company and see if we could just clean the carpet instead of replace it.  In the past I have gone with the least expensive company.  I always thought all carpet cleaners were alike.  Oh my was I wrong!  Like New Carpet Care did a fantastic job!  The carpet looks new!  The only thing they couldn’t take care of was an iron mark on the carpet.  Otherwise all the dirt, pink stains and anything else are gone!  The carpet looks new!  I was so impressed I felt I need to share it. The contact information is 503-363-7738. The person who cleaned my carpets was Brady.  He had arms the size of a body builder and did an excellent job.  Try them, I think you will be pleased.

If you would like information on buying or selling a house, please contact me at 503-910-1457.  I am also able to give you referrals for lenders, home inspectors, contractors, handymen, electricians and more.
